Bright Lights at Night – Great news for my Art Lovers!

As part of the Toronto Nuit Blanche 2016 festival, my work White Energy of Night will be exhibited in the Red Head Gallery’s special annual salon show Bright Lights at Night.  The exhibition begins on September 28 at noon, and culminates with Nuit Blanche on October 1, ending early in the morning of October 2.

Artists from across Canada and the United States will be presenting their works. This always unique, always surprising group show is not to be missed. The theme of Bright Lights at Night has been openly interpreted by the artists. Bright Lights at Night is a physical, cultural, and psychological state that favours the melancholic as easily as the ecstatic.

Each Nuit Blanche, thousands of visitors come through the Red Head Gallery and other galleries and art centres in this hub of contemporary art activity, hosting numerous interactive and immersive projects all under one roof. Installations will include photography, painting, sculpture, video/film, interactive activities, and performances.

Dear Torontonians and Guests of our City: Enjoy Your Unique Journey in the Nuit Blanche!

About Red Head Gallery

The Red Head Gallery was established in 1990 and is Toronto’s most enduring collectively run art gallery. It has stood the test of time as an exhibition space as well as a collective where critically engaged artists enjoy curatorial control over the presentation of their work within a wide range of contemporary discourse. Over the past two decades more than 100 artists have been part of The Red Head Gallery and have produced over 200 exhibitions. Red Head artists create images and objects, manipulate spaces both theoretical and physical, participate in and organize events, and seek out opportunities to interact with other arts organizations locally, nationally, and internationally. The gallery’s exhibitions have been highlighted and reviewed in noted newspapers, national and international art magazines and journals, on television, and in critically engaged blogs and web art sites.

About 401 Richmond

401 Richmond

401 Richmond

401 Richmond is a restored, heritage-designated, industrial building in downtown Toronto that is home to over 140 artists, cultural producers, microenterprises, galleries, festivals, and shops. The building is a thriving arts hub that is open to the public.

During the 2016 Toronto Nuit Blanche festivities, 401 Richmond is presenting its diverse programming – Built for Art: A Secret Garden.

“A looming brick facade runs nearly the length of a city block along Richmond Street West at Spadina Avenue. Enduring and unassuming, 401 Richmond holds its ground in the midst of towering developments. Walk through the front doors and find yourself in a veritable urban oasis; warm brick walls, antique hardwood floors, dreamy sun-soaked windows, and a plethora of potted plants line the hallways of this heritage warehouse-turned arts and culture hub. Artists, cultural producers, microenterprises, galleries, festivals, and shops fill the building and give it life. Here, the seeds of great ideas are nurtured and allowed to flourish… 401 Richmond offers A Secret Garden in the concrete jungle.”
